Below, we have tried to answer common questions visitors to our Web site may have. If you do not find your question answered on this page, please E-mail us at webmaster@adil.biz. What is Advanced Diving? Advanced diving is any type of diving that requires specialized skills and training. Northeast diving, whether it be shore diving or wreck diving tends to take place in cold, dark water. There are often environmental issues such as current and seas to contend with as well. This type of diving truly requires special considerations and should not be attempted by novice divers without the proper training and guidance. This can be observed in the reluctance of most Dive Boat Captains, who require a minimum of an advanced diver certification from a recognized certification agency. Not withstanding this, it is important to mention that not all advanced diving certifications are equal. Some require significantly more experience and training than others. Advanced Diving International was formed to provide such services. Is it right for me? This question requires significant introspection. Are you restricted in your dive activities due to your current location? Are you ready to dedicate yourself to growing as a diver? Will you commit the resources necessary to such a task? If the answer is yes to all of these questions, then you are a good candidate for advanced dive training. How do I get started? Start by performing a self- inventory of your dive skills: (Write this information down for your own reference and review it periodically.) - What is my current certification level?
- How many years have I been diving?
- How many dives do I have?
- How often do I dive?
- When was my last dive?
- Where was my last dive?
- What was my comfort level on my last dive?
- Where has the majority of my diving been performed?
- What were the conditions at these dive locations?
- Was I limited by anything on those dives?
- What areas of my performance could I improve on?
- What areas of diving interest me?
Now you have a starting point for your dive training. Review this list and create some personal goals for yourself. Do not place time limits on these goals. Simply think about what you would like to pursue. Act on these goals. Locate a training facility that can provide the training your goals require. Meet with their staff and become familiar with them. Determine their level of training and experience. Research their training approaches and affiliations. Then decide whether their ethos is right for you. |
